May 25: Quilt is here.
May 26: Paula made all her decisions... May 28: ...and changed them. Had to order Gold bobbins. Going with Wedding Vine panto. May 31: Bobbins are here but not the size I ordered. Superior Threads has shipped the right order. Jun 02: Bobbins are here. Jun 13-14: Programmed IQ. Prepped ready to load. Jun 15: Loaded ready to quilt. Jun 16: Quilting. Jun 17: Quilted. Jun 18: Final pictures. Nov 07: Paula & hubby dropped by with this quilt today. It made planning the spirals a whole lot easier than by email. Measured but forgot to photograph it.
Nov 21: Finally took some pictures. Dec 06: Prepped ready to load. Dec 07: Loaded ready to quilt. Dec 08: Quilting. Using grey thread. Dec 09: Quilted. Been taking my time, a lot of it. Pictures soon. Dec 10: Pictures & gallery posted. Jul 14: This just came in. It dates back several years. My daughter gave me a small piece of fabric--There is no place like home--from this line dated 11/2010. Makes me wonder what else Paula might have tucked away in her closet.
Jul 19: Using Billowy w/Grey Bottom Line Thread. Quilted. Will try for a better photo tomorrow. May 20: First contact on Paula's "Be My Neighbor" quilt using her stash. She'll be sending this next week. Paula "Initially I wasn't even going to do it, but once I started, I couldn't wait to do the next block".
May 26: It's here! Larger & more vibrant than I expected. Very, very nice of course as expected from Paula. Jun 01: Programmed. Jun 18: Prepped. Jun 19: Quilted. More pictures later. I'm hungry. Nov 05: I picked this quilt up in Greensboro today. Dec 02: Paula & I talked again. We are both stumped as to how to longarm this gorgeous quilt. She is in no hurry so we are patiently waiting for inspiration. Any ideas are appreciated. Feb 15: Talked to Paula who still doesn't know what she wants. Perhaps some ruler work that she can do herself. Perhaps a block that can be repeated easily enough--I know that is custom but hey this is Paula!!! She is going to look for hex star block patterns. Feb 16: Started a pattern search myself & sent 23 ideas to Paula. Feb 17: Did a few kludgy overlays. Generally, Paula likes simple & not dense. Beginning to wonder where we will end up. For sure we've got to start somewhere if we are ever going to get anywhere. HA! Paula has made a decision. Mar 23: Paula wants different color thread to match the various stars: orange, blue, yellow-green, purple. Mar 26: I forgot that the red wire to the laser module has come loose & I cannot fix it. Ordered a replacement. Mar 29: The laser module is here & seems to work just fine. Apr 06: Prepped & loaded. Quilting. Photographing black quilting on black is proving to be most difficult but hey, I have the dust down pat. Apr 07: Quilting when I can. I give up on trying to photograph the black sashing. I will just post the progress which is very slow. Perhaps I will perfect my technique & speed things along. Apr 08: Was able to work for an hour and reached the halfway point on the sashing. Apr 13: Quilting again. The LOBs sashing is done. Apr 15: Got up the nerve to quilt the first 1/2 star...and then 2 more. Apr 16: Happy Easter! Apr 17: Watch me finish this today. I am determined. Quilted. Apr 18: Final pictures. Going to Greensboro to hand deliver to Paula.

Apr 09: This is a Ye Olde Forest Quilters sampler planned by Joanne Jones & pieced by Paula Ginn. Paula is donating this quilt to her church to raise funds for building project. When I got this out to photograph it, I was quite frankly in awe of the design, the fabrics & the piecing--a log cabin quilt & as 12 block sampler in one. I hope I have captured some of the magic in the pictures here. | The blocks |
Apr 10: We are using the Log Cabin Feather Block for everything. II will create borders & sampler blocks from this one pattern. IQ is now programmed & details are on the Playground. The challenge is to keep the density the same throughout the quilt. This is the main reason we did not go with a mix of patterns for the sampler blocks. It is also why I let the border quilting cover 2 outer borders.
Apr 11: Loaded ready to quilt.
Apr 12: Well, here goes! Quilting.
Mar 06: Paula selected Ziries Ocean Spray panto with thread the darker shade in the background fabric.
Mar 21: Loaded.
Mar 22: Quilted. Every other row of the pattern is offset 50% for a bit of variety.
Mar 23: Final pictures. Shipping.
Jan 06: Paula selected Flowering Fern for her panto using her own Warm & White batting & Bottom Line Tan thread.
Jan 11: Prepped.
Jan 17: Loaded & quilting.
Jan 18: Quilted.
Jan 19: Final pictures.
Dec 07: Posted first pics. I really like the reverse "POP" on this quilt. Prepped & loaded.
Dec 08: Quilted.
Oct 31: Quilt arrived.
Nov 10: Quilted.
Nov 11: Final pictures. Will ship tomorrow since today is Veterans Day.
Aug 31: White thread. Butterflies & Swirls panto by Vicki Malaski sat 10". Paula's batting.
Sep 15: Prepped.
Sep 16: Loaded. Quilting. I'll stop tonight at the 1/2 way point.
Jun 19: Will be using Wrought Iron pattern with no overlapping rows with neutral thread in the tan/taupe spectrum.
Jun 20: A playground day.
Jun 23: Density decided: 5" rows with 0.25" gap.
Jun 24: Prepped. Loading. Thread is Bottom Line Med Brown.
Jun 25: Quilting. Quilted.
Jun 04: Paula says this was easy for her to piece. Sure doesn't look so easy nor so quick to do.
Jun 05: Quilting.
Jun 06: Quilted.
If you look closely, you will see a variety of smaller blocks and some unusual sashing. The angle of this picture shows an altogether different layout that I had not seen before. Stand back & you will see large octagons too.
Fascinating quilt.
Apr 25: Picked out Bottom Line taupe for thread & Flowering Fern for IQ pattern.
Apr 26: Started prep for loading
Apr 27: Explored density using EQ7 & IQ.
Apr 28: Started yesterday and finished trimming red threads on and near white fabric so they won't show through. Loaded, basted, quilting.
Apr 29: Still quilting. Day pictures are better. And quilted.
Oct 19: Reviewing IQ patterns with Paula. There are several options but none just right.
Oct 20, 22: Sandy is working on a IQ pattern for Christmas Lights When you don't like what is available, you ask Sandy. It works every time!!
Oct 25: Paula approved the layout sort of. I get to make the final decision. I will be quilting this sideways as I think the pattern has better flow when turned back normal. I have also offset even rows by 50% so it is very difficult to see the pattern repeats which is what we want on this one.
Oct 26: Quilting
09/26: Quilted the red one
09/27 Loaded the green & coral one
09/28 Quilted.
