Jul 07: Luanne is a neighbor in the same small log homes development know as Creekside Park. She called this morning & brought her quilt over for inspection. It is hand pieced, a bit raveled with some open seams--nothing that can't be prepped for longarming. It lays quite flat so that is good. Batting had been prepped for hand piecing so I wasn't sure whether it was thin wool or polyester. I found a piece of Warm & Natural in the closet when I went looking for the bag I saw the other day labeled Tuscany wool. Certainly not wool and 90% sure it is W&N. Perfect. While measuring the quilt, we explored ideas for a backing. First choice was a Kona Cotton Pewter (I have the color card). Later I got to thinking about tonals and some backing fabric I just bought myself. Luanne gets to gently wash the top, buy a backing & pre-wash that. I showed her how to browse for a longarm pattern.Thinking simple indicative of the era but tight enough to secure the top, maybe Billowy or Bam, Deb's Swirls or Baptist Fan. it will be fun to see where we end up with the planning phase.
