Mar 11: Carole says she is just using up remnants. Could have fooled me! Just beautiful. Carole is thinking Majestic Pines in the center with Meandering Loops on the sides. I am thinking Magnifico on pine cones & Bottom Line Med Brown on the sides.
May 03: Quilted. Feb 20: First contact.
Mar 07: Sonya is looking at patterns. New to this whole world, she is exploring & discovering. Thinking ZZag, Triangles SD or Jennifer's Cables -- all geometrics. If I do my job right, I will guide Sonja to learn how to select a nice pattern. No, I do NOT know what will work ... yet. Mar 08: Quilt arrived. I've done a quilt rendition & 3 rough overlays to get us started on selecting a pattern. Time for a phone discussion. Mar 28: Have a plan using SINE curve. Apr 24: Loaded ready to quilt. Apr 25: Quilted. Mar 08: Mary has a lot of printed quilt top fabric with coordinated backings along with a large supply of polyester battings. She spent the day here but we kept running into various problems not worth detailing. After learning a lot about prepping for longarming, Mary took her quilts home to wash & inspect them carefully.
Mar 16: Trial run for Mary. We prepped, talked, loaded, talked & started quilting. The pattern backtracks almost 100% so quilting time was over 6 hours. Most quilts this size take 1.5 to 3 hours. Mar 17: Quilted. Mar 03: Reed and I have been working on a quilt design for several weeks now. Finally have a plan & fabric is ordered.
Mar 06: Some fabric is here. The rest is on the way. Mar 08: All the fabric is here. Mar 09: Finally got around to photographing the fabrics together. Hmmm. Do not like it. Mar 10: Went to local quilt shop & left my friends looking for matching fabric while I went for a much needed hair cut. Finally decided to have Reed drive over the very short distance from where he works. He had no trouble making a selection. Mar 26: Prewashed all fabrics. Mar 27: Finished pressing them all out for cutting. Apr 25: Cutting. Using the method taught by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co. for half square triangles, namely, sew 2 squares together all around the outside edge then cut diagonals. Yields 4 half square triangles. May 01: Continuing with the cutting. Will have 64 blocks: 16 light squares & 48 half square triangles (16 half floral/half light, 16 half floral/half blue, 16 half blue/half light). May 06: Now making progress. Sewed the cuts squares together all the way around & cut into half square triangles. May 07: Planned the layout. Ready to sew the rows. Got 5 of 8 done. May 08: All 8 rows are pieced & pressed ready to join. May 09: Working on joining the rows - very slow going matching the points. May 11: Finally got the quilt center done, i.e. in one piece. Borders next. May 13: Added 2 of 4 borders. May have a problem with wavy borders I will have to stop and fix. (This is not the first time I have considered starting all over again on this quilt.) May 19: All day long just to add one white border after doing what I could to fix my wavy issues. May 28: Quilt top is finished. Still need to piece the backing. Oct 23: Pieced the backing. Squaring something so large is NOT easy. Prepping. Oct 24: Prepped ready to load. Loaded ready to quilt. Oct 25: Polished off the programming. Quilting. Oct 26: Quilted. Now the binding. Oct 27: Binding is attached ready for hand work. Nov 07: Binding is done & thus the quilt is done. Going now to deliver it. |
