Minnie Adkins quilt top that Lake purchased at auction. It needs backing, quilting & binding.
I enjoy seeing where a project like this ends up with so many possibilities at play.
Look up Minnie Atkins on Google to enjoy the scope of her fame & art.
May 14: I first heard from Lake today. After receiving his contact form, we had a wonderful conversation.
May 15: Drew an EQ7 rough rendition for overlays. I drew up a few patterns he liked. Still considering a backing fabric but leaning toward either a solid orange or a blender with reds & oranges. I am posting some of our considerations available on Fabrics.com. May take the top to a local quilt shop to see what else might work well.
May 17: Lake shared some completed Minnie Adkins quilts. He knows now he wants a panto, pattern Cloud UpDown (his original first choice). He likes "the idea of playing off the fox and doing something in orange." And he is shipping his top on Monday.
May 19: Went to the local quilt shop today just to see what they might have in orange/red fabrics.
May 23: Quilt top arrived. Lake chose his backing & binding.
May 24: Fabric for backing and binding is ordered.
May 30: Backing just arrived. Backing is pieced & loaded. Batting is cut. Re-programmed IQ to the correct dimensions. Found major tensions issues on the top when prepping (pressing) it. Also opened the seam around the perimeter of the top.
May 31: Batting is loaded. With Lake's permission, I am reinforcing all the seams. Top is ready to load.
Jun 01: Finished loading. Quilting.
Jun 02: Quilted. Squaring the quilt in preparation for binding. (Visual tutorial of binding process - bottom right of page)
Jun 04: Attached the binding to the front. Started hand binding.
Jun 07: Only just over half way on the binding. Got a lot done today. If I spend 8-10 hours again tomorrow, I should finish. Hope to ship Monday.
Jun 09: Finished binding & thus the quilt. Will ship tomorrow.
