Aug 15: The white chuppah is actually a variety of tonal fabrics so more like off-white. There are several small but critical places a seam needs "relaxing" &/or closing. There is so much detail to show off on this quilt that I will post when I prep it for longarming.
Aug 16: I asked my sister, Sandy, if she can transform the third image below for this white on white chuppah. Tried to find out who "owns" this design to get permission to use it but got no response to my inquiries.
Sep 04: Working on fixing a few spots in prep for quilting.
Sep 05: I've fixed what I can including one mitered corner. Left several places that should quilt okay.
Sep 12: After 2 long days of work for Sandy with me testing it, the design is ready. Very special indeed.
Oct 18: Started prepping including bobbin winding & squaring the backing.
Oct 19: Prepped. Loaded. Quilting.
Oct 20: Quilted
Pic laterAug 15: Chuppahs are here. The center and a few minor places on this quilt need a bit of work before I can longarm it. Both tops include some beautiful embroidery work. We have talked briefly about perhaps sewing around & not over some of these areas. This means some custom work is involved as well. We will use Warm & White batting.
Aug 19: Started prepping the colorful chuppah. One place on one border needs "relaxing" (almost done) & the center square needs to be removed, cut down & then sewn back into the quilt. There are 3 small but critical places on the white chuppah where a seam needs "relaxing".
Aug 29: Took a break from the prep work to give it some thought. Just finished the second long day working on the center. It is far from perfect but I think I can quilt it now.
Oct 03: Prepped.
Oct 04: We have decided to only carve out a stip of no-sew zone 1/4 in on either side of the horizontal and vertical peach embroidery inside the blue sashing without regard to the sashing width. We will let the panto stitch normally over the blue embroidery in both the large (11 x 6) and small (6 x 6) blocks since they are too large to leave unquilted. Loaded.
Oct 05: Everything (bobbins, basting, tension test) is ready for me to start quilting...tomorrow. There will be bearding on the navy backing but there is no way I know of to prevent that. Believe me I have tried in the past to no avail.
Oct 06: Quilting. Got 2 rows done. Learning as I go. Sorry about that. Phyllis I so appreciate your great spirit.
Oct 07: It's 4:30 & I have only completed the 3rd row. But figuring out better & better how to do this. Finished the day with 5 or 8 rows done.
Oct 08: Quilted. Quilt is too large to capture in one photo.
