Apr 13, 2017: Met with Crystal this morning to get an idea of what she might like. It will be fun to see where we end up. The WoW from  2011 wowed her instantly.  I pulled the greens and purples from my batiks collection & will plug them into the EQ7 rendition to see how it looks & what it might need. Also have other fabrics on hand that might do. Not getting anywhere...
Apr 18: Went to Greensboro. Picked up 7.5 yds of purple & green batiks with Joanne's help.
Apr 24: Met with Crystal & showed her several options for using the fabrics. She still wants Will O' Wisp & loves the brighter colors.
​Apr 05, 2018: After a year's delay, I am finally taking the time to work on this quilt. I prepped the fabrics for cutting and then spent time re-familiarizing myself with the details of how to layout the fabrics. Also made a cutting chart to help keep things straight. Ready to start cutting tomorrow.
Apr 06: The strips that make up the main part of the quilt are cut. 
​Apr 07: Chimneys (dark blue) are cut. Logs from 7 of the 8 fabrics are cut.
Apr 08: All pieces are cut ready to sew.
Apr 15: Made A blocks which comprise the center star.
​Apr 17: Working on B blocks. Everytime I start to sew for the last 2 days, I get interrupted.
Apr 18: Thought I finished B blocks only to discover I had pieced mirror images of what I intended. These just happen to be Br blocks. I need two more Br blocks. I can make the correct 6 B blocks from the Br logs. If one is going to make a major mistake on this quilt, this is the one to make. B & Br blocks are done.
May 26: Been working on the 22 D blocks as I have a few minutes. Done now.
Aug 13-15: Have a bit of time so working on C blocks.
Dec 16: Continuing the work on C Block.
​Dec 18: C Blocks are done. 6 wedges & 4 corner sections are done.
​Dec 27: The center is in one piece. Only border are left to do.
Dec 28: Borders are on & thus the quilt top is finished.

​Dec 29: Saw Crystal today. She selected Zephyr for her pattern. Posted overlay.
Jun 21, 2019: Prepping and loading. After 2 years, it's about time to finish this up.
Jun 22: Loaded. Got sick all of a sudden.
Jun 23: Quilting. Love the pattern Crystal picked on this quilt. Forgot to take picture on first row (Still feeling queasy.)

Jul 03: Cut binding strips - first task after 2019 Work Area Upgrade

Jul 21: Attached the binding and started the handwork. Got about 1/2 way.
Jul 29: Finished the binding & thus the quilt.
Jul 30: Pressed & packaged the quilt. Figured I'd better call before heading out to deliver this. Darn, she's not working today. Tomorrow I'll enjoy breakfast when I deliver this.
Jul 31: Hand delivered. I rarely go for breakfast but it was excellent.

Nov 30, 2016: My friend, Laken, who asked for a quilt for her daughter, Timberlyn, now wants one for herself. She loves all things Chevron & animal skin prints. I suggested a Chevron with alternating fabrics being skins.
Dec 02: Took time to start playing with options. Laken loves my design. Ordered fabric.

Jan 14: Cutting strips. There are many ways to do half square triangles. Here I am using the strip tube method where I sew both sides of a pair of strips then cut the squares from that using The Strip Tube ruler or something similar. Actually I am using Quilt in a Day's Triangle Square Up Ruler because I like the markings better.
Jan 18, 2017: Back to work. I need 10 identical blocks per row.
Jan 19: Finished cutting all the blocks. Have enough fabric for a second quilt.
Jan 22: Sewing the blocks into rows.
Jan 25: Rows are done.
Jan 31: Joining rows.
​Feb 01: Quilt center is done. I cut the borders.
Feb 02: Don't like the Milk Chocolate grunge I bought for the border. Found a dark batik at Sew Original. Prewashed it.
Feb 03: Borders are on and thus the quilt top is finished.
Feb 04: Backing is pieced. Ready to quilt using Dream Orient (silk & bamboo) batting & Zany African Animals.
Jun 07: Prepped & loading. Batting is cut.
Jun 08: Programming.
Jun 09: Quilted. Binding is next.

Dec 22, 2016: I was asked by each of two friends for a black quilt. Hmmm. I looked about for black fabrics & I ordered the hearts & backing when I first saw them to round out my order.
Dec 23: Ann is one who requested a black quilt. I offered her Bee Creative or this fabric. She chose this. I just ordered more of the hearts & backing plus the border fabrics so I will have enough to make a 2nd quilt. Had to get the Grunge Onyx from a different vendor for the best price I have seen for a grunge.
Dec 28: The hearts and backing fabrics are here. The Solid Grey Grunge is not going to work though--wrong shade.
Dec 29: The Onyx Grunge is here.
Dec 30: All the fabric is here & now prewashed.
​Jan 04, 2017: Found the right shade for the middle border at the local quilt shop.

May 01: Quilted. Now the binding. I'm not happy with the pictures but maybe after the binding I can get a better one.
​May 02: Made & attached the binding ready for hand work.
May 27: Finished the binding just past midnight.
​May 28: Hand delivered.

Dec 25: 2011:  A Christmas gift from my daughter, this quilt features 12 Stonehenge fat quarters, a Stonehenge beige background and a peach blender fabric.
​May 26, 2012: Studying the pattern, doing EQ7 rendition.  Changed the quilt top design by adding a row of blocks to the bottom to balance the symmetry. Cut the fat quarters and background into 5" squares for 1/2 square triangles and four patches.
May 27: Marking and then sewing 1/2 square triangles & 4 patches.
May 28: The basic blocks are ready to combine into larger blocks. Deciding how to arrange the colors is not going to be easy.
May 29: While doing the layout of the blocks I discovered that I didn’t have enough 4-patches. That is because the center blocks are supposed to all be the same and their own color. So I just made 24 more blocks with the inner border fabric. Hope it works. Truth be told, I don't see that it makes much difference. Got one block done so now I know I will have to trim each triangle block down a tad. I'm done for the day as soon as I clear my bed for the night.
May 30: Only finished the 4 blocks for row 1. The rest of my time was spent trimming. I also toyed with how to finish that wide 7" border without doing applique. Lastly, I took time to work on Dorothy's angel quilt project she will be sending soon.
May 31: I managed to finished trimming all the blocks & have stored them away as May is over.
June 05: Finished the 4 blocks for row 2 while waiting on thread.
Dec 17, ​2015. I remember working of this some in the years since now. Was looking for it earlier this week to work on it some more. Couldn't find it. My search stretched into going through every project box under my work table.  I have the backing & remnants in one of those boxes but no block work. I have searched every nook & cranny in the longarm room, going through every box stored there (trashing everything I did not need). I looked through the closet repeatedly but today I will take it apart thoroughly. While this is not my favorite quilt but now I am dead set determined to finish it.
   To St. Anthony, patron saint of lost things: "Tony, Tony, look around. Something's lost & must be found." Hey, it has always worked in the past. HA! Just found it in the bottom of a large storage box topped off with packing air pouches. Thank you, St. Anthony.
    Turns out, I have pieced 14 of the 24 blocks (6 rows of 4). Now I have to put the closet back in order.
​Jan 06: 2016: Continuing the piecing. Got all the rows in the blocks done. Redesigned the layout again as shown below. 
Jan 09: Determined to get the blocks done.
Jun 23: Earlier this week, I got the blocks done & planned a final arrangement. Today I got the 6 rows together. I noticed for the first time this morning that I altered the pattern when doing my EQ7 rendition. Funny I didn't even see it until now. Oh well--as they say, there are no rules when quilting.
Jun 28: Connected pairs of rows 3-4 and 5-6.
Jun 29: Finished quilt top center.
Jun 30: Added 3 borders thus finishing the quilt top. Pieced the backing.
Dec 22: I know a lady, Joyce, whose favorite color is yellow. This quilt came to mind with a yellow flannel backing. Can't wait to see if she likes it. Ordered the flannel.

Jan 16, 2017: Went to see Joyce to show her Scrap Basket Trellis & several other quilts. Scrap Basket it is with the yellow flannel backing I selected just for her & Joyful Teardrops. We are all set. All I need is time.
​Jan 20: Pre-washing the flannel backing. Less than 44" width plus shrinkage from washing--don't have enough. Ordered 2 more yards.
Jan 26: Fabric is here & prewashed.
Jan 27: Backing is pieced. Ready to quilt.
Mar 27: Prepping and loading. Noticed 3 mistakes. Removed the errors.
Mar 28: Put the pieces back in the quilt turned the correct way. Finished loading.
​Mar 29: Programmed. Quilting.
​Mar 30: Quilted. Attached the binding.
Mar31: Hand work.
​Apr 01: Binding is finished. Hand delivered. Turns out, I think this is my all time favorite quilt.

May 9, 2016 - The panels are a birthday present from my daughter making this very special to me. Fabrics are from Moda's Bee Creative collection. I was thinking panels with the dark now border fabric as background/sashing. It was Joanne's idea to use black flange around the panels so they would pop against the honeycombs. Yes! I saw the fabric about a month ago & have been trying to wrap my mind around what to do with it. This is a great example of how I may see something I like but quickly feel overwhelmed. That is when Joanne will come through in a moment with a great idea (& thus make the sale). Pre-washed all fabrics.
​May 11: Fussy cut the panels.
May 13: First task is to do a sample flange around one of my extra panels. Want to try 1/4" and 1/8" because there is only 1/4" between seam and panel. I also want to see if I can figure a way to make the flange press out toward the sashing. The only thing that worked is a 1/4" border around the panels made from 3/4" strips. That is done.
May 14: Horizontal sashing is done. Took a while to figure out the best direction to press the seams including a lot of do over.
May 15: Finished sashing leaving just the borders.
May 16: I am determined to finish this quilt today. I have cut the outer border & black 1" strips to make it a flange border. (I may also do a flange binding but by hand, not by machine.) Considering IQ patterns.Quilt top is finished.
​May 18: Pieced the backing.
May 20: Drew the honeycomb pattern in IQ. Will turn the quilt sideways to get the pattern right
Jan 15, 2017: Patricia, who said her favorite color is black, chose this quilt because of it's positive message. Can't wait to finish it for her.
Mar 09: Loading. Hoping someone can have Patricia call me about her batting.
​Mar 11: Quilting. Decided to use Warm & Plush. The flange border was NOT a good idea for longarming. Wish I had used another 1/4" border. The flange & the hopper foot are not compatible unless I wanted to quilt around the flange which I do not. I am holding down the flange at every point the longarm crosses it. Live & learn -- one day I will have learned it all...NOT.
​Mar 12: Quilted. Made & attached the binding. Only hand work left to do.
Mar 24: Binding is finished.
Mar 25: Quilt is delivered.

Dec 12: Saw this piece of Michael Miller flannel for less than $5/yd. Why not? Not doing much with it...just adding a black border to the front. Using the same fabric on the front & back. With wool batting this will make a very nice cuddle quilt to take off the chill. (For Laken's legs)
​Dec 20: Pieced the back.
​Dec 21: Top is pieced ready to quilt. Using Bottomline Gold thread.
​Dec 22: Quilted. Note quilting only shows on the black border.
​Dec 23: Attached the binding. Ready for hand work.

Dec 27, 2015: The first of my 2016 projects, these fabrics were part of the 2015 Christmas Stocking event at Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shoppe. Just love these Moda Dot Dot Dash fabrics. Decided to stick with just the teals & purples but these come in pinks, greens, yellows & oranges too. My backing fabric is Moda Tiny Dots so it is a different shade of purple. Thinking another 5 fabric Yellow Brick Road.
Nov 01, 2016: Today, one of my favorite people, Tanya, fell in love with the Yellow Brick Road version of this quilt. It is now hers. I will start work on it after all the Christmas quilts in the queue.
Nov 02: Double checked to be sure I had enough fabric. Oops. Needed a bit more. And enlarged the quilt a bit.
Nov 05: Picked up what I needed for this and this.
Dec 09: Started piecing. Everything is cut & ready to sew.
This is a fat quarter friendly pattern with 9" blocks. I bought 1 yd cuts not knowing what I would make. Bought borders  later.  I have 1/2 yards cuts left over plus 5 fat quarters of the Brighten Up Purple Dots & 14" of the lightest fabric. I see a 2nd quilt in the future or perhaps a J&L project. 
Dec 10: Strip sets are sewn & cut. Blocks are arranged.
​Dec 11: Blocks squared and rearranged a bit.
Dec 12: Quilt top finished.
Dec 19: Backing is ready to load.
Dec 20: Prepped, loaded, quilting. Using Dream Wool batting.
Dec 21: Quilted.

Oct 08: Pre-washed all the fabrics.
Oct 14: Cut all the borders. Still debating with myself where to trim the "friends"border stripe. Added first 2 borders - yellow & blue.
Oct 15: Added 3rd border.
Oct 16: Added 4th border. Debating on whether to add the last border. Added it & thus the quilt top is finished.
​Oct 19: Pieced the backing. Need feedback from Laken, Timberlyn's mom, before I can proceed.
Oct 21: Met with Laken. She decided the silk (Dream Orient) batting was best & just red binding was a large enough quilt. I totally agree with her choices. Prepped. Loaded. Quilting.
​Oct 22: Quilted. Squared the quilt. Attached the binding.
Oct 27: Binding is finished & thus the quilt is finished.
