Second Time Around
Jun 30, 2016: This quilt is back exactly the way I returned it 1.5 yrs ago but with fabric to repair the damaged sections. 95% of the problems are with the green fabric.
Jul 01: I am recommending Bottom Line #613 Sage thread & a simpler panto to minimize stress on the fabric this time. I have been analyzing just what needs to be fixed to get this quilt back to like new condition. Awaiting Dorothy's approval.
Jul 02: Yes to Bottom Line thread. Dorothy has selected Zen Roses by Donna Kleinke for her panto. Yes to fix things as I think best. Dorothy asked me to do her binding & to find something that would work. Found a remnant & made the binding.
Jul 03-05: Replaced the top row of blocks & redid the border. Planned a pillow cover.
Jul 06: Made & loaded a pillow cover.
Jul 07: Quilted the pillow cover. Prepped & loaded the quilt.
Jul 08: Quilting.
Jul 09: Ordered the pillow - PLY-a FIBER.
Jul 11: Quilted. Squared.
Jul 12: Made the pillow cover. Attached the binding.
Jul 13: Pillow insert is here & I have basted the end I will ladder stitch closed.
Jul 17: Binding finished. Pillow finished.
Jun 13: Quilt arrived.
Jun 19: EQ7 rendition done. Working on overlays.
Jun 20: Prepped & loaded ready to quilt. Uing Dream Orient (silk-bamboo blend) batting and Bottom Line Grey thread. Thinking the darker shade will show less on the dark colors & only slightly more on the lightest color.
Jun 21: Quilted.
Jun 06: Started this post to capture my ideas so I can get back to longarming. Must leave things tidy to be able to do that. I (think I) am wanting to come up with a simple but profoundly beautiful whole cloth wall hanging inspired by what I did for Dorothy. My research convinced me that the tree of life has profound scripture based meaning. It shares the theme I have in mind that LIFE matters, that LIFE is a choice no matter the past & that there is HOPE & LOVE even when we can't see or feel it. "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). These words changed my choices & thus my life. I hope this creation (whatever it turns out to be) will be soothing to anyone seeing it & perhaps invite conversation. Curious where I will end up with these ideas but the process has begun.
Jun 08: Need some quiet time this evening so I am drawing another idea actually on IQ this time. It looks like a coaster. Needs some spacial adjustments if nothing else.
Jun 09: Showed Dorothy my first draft. Of course she asked if I could incorporate a cross in the design. Yep.
Jun 12: Tweaked the patterns. Using Quilters Dream Wool batting to add definition.
Jun 18: Quilted a 16" version of #2.
Jun 19: Combined the patterns in the circular frame into one pattern.
Jun 20: Quilted a 16" version of #3.
Jul 01: Ordered a pillow insert from Pillows XPress.
Jul 11: Pillow insert is here. Pillow is done. Gave this to a very special, long time friend.
