Between chemo & hospitals & rehab and all that goes with it, Sylvia finally had a chance to piece her quilt & get it to me.
Her granddaughter selected the fabrics for this quilt is for her baby daughter...i.e. Sylvia's great-grandchild. Much of the fabric feels thick like canvas. quite a contrast to the super soft white minky backing. Like canvas, Minky is heavy.

One of my original customers way back when, it is so good to hear from her again. Formerly from Greensboro & patron of Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shoppe, she now resides in Raleigh. Welcome back, Sylvia.
In Sylvia's family, a quilt is not a quilt if it doesn't have a fleece backing. Starting with layer cakes (10"squares), Sylvia lets the fabrics speak for themselves--her trademark.
Only a quilt shop has more variety of fabrics than this quilt, many of which I recognize.

Sylvia believes fleece backing makes a quilt a quilt. She loves using the 10" squares in a layer cake to make a quick and beautiful quilt top without a lot of fuss and bother with piecing. I have 4 quilts to longarm for her and more on the way. Thanks Sylvia! I'll post more pictures here as I begin the longarming tomorrow. You are not seeing double here. It's just that Grandma has to keep things as near the same as possible from one child to the next.
