Sep 17: First contact about this quilt. When LW was sharing her story, I suggested she write something for the blog (posted above).
Sep 22: Quilt arrived.
Sep 24: Connie spotted the Strawberry Row panto and wants to use it because it is an emblem of Zeta (theme of t-shirts).
Sep 26: Decided to do this at 5" row height with silver thread to blend in. Cotton batting.
Oct 04: Prepping then loading. The back is prepped. With so much complex piecing, I cannot guarantee the results on the back. Loading it added to my skepticism so LW decided to order a different backing. I will also fix a sashing issue on the top. Hey! I did make one real bit of progress for all my work today--the batting is cut and ready to go! And the backing ordered. Took the sashing apart so I know now what I need to change. Hope to re-sew everything in the morning.
Oct 05: Send good vibes to wish me success. A special girl's dream quilt & her mom's hard work & loving heart depends on it. Took all day but it should quilt flat now.
Oct 09: New backing is here.
Oct 13: Pieced the new backing. Prepped top and back. Loaded, basted ready to quilt.
Oct 14: Quilting.
Oct 15: Entering the area where I need to quilt around the second ZTA lettering. Got that done & rolled the quilt. Noticed a t-shirt that was no longer fused to the interfacing with lots of puckers that simply would not longarm nicely. I stuffed some super thin double side fusible between the top & its backing and pressed front & back. Now it should quilt nicely.
Oct 16: Programmed around last ZTA letters. Hope to finish soon. Finished at 4 PM. All is well that ends well.
Aug 04: First contact. Quilt is on the way.
Aug 05: Finalized our plan.
Aug 06: Quilt is here.
Aug 09: Squared the backing. Loading.
Aug 10: Quilted 2 of the Dresden Plates. That was intense especially since I only 17" of work space and one of the plates was 18". May have to unload and reload the quilt upside down to do the bottom two plates depending on whether there is any wiggle room. I'm beat & done for today ... I think. Nope. Had to do the background on the first row to be sure it would work. Love it. Then 2 more rows. And the bunnies...Hmmm, outline and stitch around the carrots or over them, that is the question. Can't go any further until this is decided. I think carve them out of the background panto.
Aug 11: Carving out carrots from the panto. Huh? See photos. Quilt is finished & shipped.
