Aug 26: Quilt arrived. Pattern selected. Thread selected.
Sep 01: Loretta is her helping with her quilt. Sep 02: Reflections. Loretta left home before 8 AM and arrived around 10 with our breakfast in hand. We started and didn't stop (except for a few minutes to swallow a sandwich whole) until the quilt was done at about 8PM. Final photos had us working harder than ever. Finally we folded & rolled the quilt so it would fit in one of my now infamous ziplock bags. Hugging it to her chest, Loretta was suddenly in tears...you know...happy tears. As hard as we tried, we just couldn't finish before dark so I led my new friend out of the neighborhood back to the main road. & she was on her way. I got a call at 11PM from Loretta as she drove into her driveway. Whew! Prep & setup took us several hours. The details in the pattern for the mane and tail on each horse took time. The quilting went smoothly. This was one of the most focused work wise days I have shared with a guest piecer perhaps because Loretta was so focused & enthralled with the whole process. Labor Day was for us a most congenial. pleasant friendly day. Oh and productive--that was a LARGE quilt. No doubt we will do this again when we are both wiser (and older). I bet we can zip through the next project in 2/3 the time.
