Margaret, wanting it preserved, says this one was made in the 1950's or 60's by my husband's grandmother (hand stitched and has been in my linen closet for 30 years).
Margaret will pick up some binding & backing fabric from Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shoppe in Greensboro where she lives. I'll longarm and bind it.
Feb 16: Margaret emailed me about doing this quilt. Yes, of course!
Feb 22: Margaret now has her binding and backing & is ready to ship. Baptist Fan with white or off-white thread.
Feb 26: The quilt just arrived. Nice but terribly musty. Only one thing to do--put it out with the snow & some Lysol to air out. My throat is hoping this works.
Feb 28: It worked. The quilt is so much better I find it hard to believe.
Mar 04: Margaret has chosen Baptist Fan. The backing is muslin and will highlight the quilting beautifully. I will do the binding (red).
Apr 01: Got this quilt out & realized I haven't done measurements or assessment of special care it might need. Sent the quote and waiting for acceptance.
Apr 02: Presented several variations on the fan (gone now).
Apr 07: Margaret & I finally got our heads together & have a final plan.
Apr 09: The backing is pressed & ready to load. Trimmed blobs of thread on the quilt top. Found some open seams I need to fix. Will press tomorrow & load.
Apr 12: Took a couple of days for an unexpected diversion. Loaded back & batting. Top is prepped & ready to load.
Apr 13: Setup is complete. Quilting. Quilted.
Apr 14: Squared the quilt. Made the binding.
Apr 15: Binding is attached. Ready for hand work.
Apr 30: Binding finished. Will ship tomorrow.
